Pedestrian hit, killed by train in southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in southeast Charlotte on Monday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

It happened around 6 p.m. in the 1900 block of Sardis Road North near Monroe Road.

Upon arrival, officers located a CSX train stopped on the tracks and an unresponsive victim, 39-year-old Bobby Skidmore, nearby.

Skidmore was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment is unknown for Skidmore but a toxicology report is pending, police said.
