LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A man on a lawnmower was hit and killed while crossing a Lincoln County road on Wednesday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 3:30 p.m., troopers responded to Killian Road near Hoover Road in Lincolnton to investigate a fatal collision.
Troopers said 63-year-old Larry Lail was crossing Killian Road on a lawnmower when he was struck by a 1987 Chevy pickup truck.
Lail died at the scene.
The Chevy driver, 61-year-old Carl Bailey, was not injured.
Troopers said neither speed, impairment, or other negligent factors played a role in the collision. No charges will be filed, the highway patrol said.
