STATESVILLE, N.C. β Charges are pending against a 17-year-old involved in a deadly collision with a motorcyclist in Iredell County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened Friday night around 8:20 p.m. on Whites Farm Road near Ingram Road in Statesville.
Troopers said the juvenile was traveling south on White Farm Road in a Ford Edge. The vehicle allegedly crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound Kawasaki Motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, 57-year-old Michael Alan Gandy, died at the scene. The juvenile was not injured.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor but speed contributed to the collision, troopers said.
Charges are pending against the juvenile, the highway patrol said.
