5 arrested, illegal guns seized in southwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Five people were arrested and several illegal guns were seized after a search warrant was executed in southwest Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On Tuesday, CMPD’s Crime Reduction Unit responded to Crescent Springs Drive off South Tryon Street to follow up on a lead given to them by the FBI. Officers observed several individuals, one with a concealed firearm, smoking marijuana, and conducted a probable cause search on one of their vehicles. 

Police obtained a search warrant for one of the suspect’s homes and said they found nine firearms, two with switch devices and one that was reported stolen.

Four men and a juvenile were charged in this case. Brenden Garris and Na’sier Ragin were each charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Nyrell Foxx and Jordan Smith were charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

The juvenile was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, and was granted a secure custody order.
