Wegmans Food Markets announced Thursday the official opening date for its new store in south Charlotte.
The 110,000 square-foot supermarket will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14. It will be located in Ballantyne at 11550 North Community House between Endhaven Lane and Ballantyne Commons Parkway.
The store will employ approximately 450 full- and part-time employees.
“We’ve put a lot of care into hiring and training our new team, and we’re looking for more enthusiastic candidates to join us before opening day,” said Store Manager Patrick McGuinness. “Construction on the new store is well underway, and we’re thrilled to begin the countdown to October 14 when we will welcome the community through our doors.”
This will be the first Wegmans location in Charlotte.
“The Ballantyne store will feature all the traditional departments Wegmans customers have come to know and love, including delicious restaurant foods (sushi, pizza, chef-made salads, and sandwiches), an abundant produce department with hundreds of different fruits and vegetables, and a wide variety of seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese options,” Wegmans said Thursday in a statement. “In addition, the store will offer one-stop shopping with a large selection of wine and beer.”
The supermarket chain has 114 stores located across the east coast.
