Police Link Lake Wylie Murder to South Charlotte Robbery

LAKE WYLIE, SC — For the first time, prosecutors are publicly linking the murder of a Lake Wylie couple to a robbery at their south Charlotte mattress store.

Malcolm Hartley is accused of shooting Doug and Debbie London.  During an extradition hearing Thursday, a judge in Mecklenburg County denied him bond on a probation violation.

Prosecutors say Hartley killed the couple to keep the husband from testifying in the robbery case.  They say Doug London was the only witness to that robbery back in May 2014.  According to court documents, one of the robbery suspects has ties to the Bloods gang.
