Preeclampsia Awareness Month
CHARLOTTE, NC — May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month, bringing attention to a serious pregnancy complication that can have lasting effects on a woman’s health long after delivery.
Dr. Monique Oye and Diane Holmes, a family nurse practitioner with Atrium Health, joined WCCB Rising to discuss the warning signs of preeclampsia, the importance of early detection and how the condition can increase a woman’s future risk of heart disease.
The two also highlighted the importance of continued postpatrum care and patient education, encouraging women with a history of preeclampsia to stay proactive about their long-term heart health.
