York Co. Sheriff’s Office divers recover body of missing swimmer from Lake Wylie

LAKE WYLIE, S.C. – An investigation is underway in York County, after divers recovered the body of a missing swimmer. According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, the person disappeared after jumping from a boat near Little Allison Creek on Lake Wylie around two Thursday afternoon.

About an hour later, divers found the person. Rescuers performed CPR, but they were unable to revive the person.

The Sheriff’s Office says, “This tragedy should be a reminder to boaters as we go into summer boating season to take safety seriously and wear a life jacket when in the water.”

The person’s name has not yet been released.
