CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A woman was arrested after allegedly hitting an eight-year-old child in south Charlotte, according to police.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 on Smithfield Church Road near Park Road. Police said an eight-year-old was hit by a vehicle and that the driver fled the scene.
The child was transported to the hospital and is expected to be okay, police said.
After reviewing camera footage to identify the suspect’s license plate, officers located and arrested Shaiquailalia Harris on Tuesday, May 19.
Harris was charged with felony hit and run. A warrant was also obtained to seize her vehicle, police said.
