HICKORY, NC — Shortly after midnight Friday morning, Hickory firefighters responded to a garage fire on 16th Street in Hickory.
The two story home had heavy smoke coming from the garage when firefighters arrived. The residents had exited to the street safely where they were waiting when officials showed up. Upon entering firefighters found heavy fires inside, but were quickly able to extinguish the flames and clear the smoke from the garage’s apartment above.
No injuries were reported though the garage suffered major damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
