4 Charged In Connection To Charlotte Kidnapping And Assault

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has charged four suspects in connection to a kidnapping and assault that happened Sunday night.

Police say the victim finally got help from a resident on Highlander Court around 6:30am Wednesday. He told police he was tied to a chair and assaulted numerous times Sunday night inside a home on that same street, according to reports.

The victim says he went with a friend to the home around 6pm, and the crime was committed after several other people in the home began making accusations about him. During the assaults, the victim says the suspects used machetes and baseball bats but only caused minor injuries.

On Wednesday, police say he finally managed to escape and find help.

The following suspects have been charged in connection to this crime:

  • Carnis Ferdinand Poindexter Jr., DOB: 5/19/2000, has been charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Communicating Threats, Kidnapping, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serous Injury.
  • Monazha Thompson, DOB: 3/21/2000, has been charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Communicating Threats, Kidnapping, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serous Injury.
  • Mikkaala Marina Lewis, DOB: 10/22/1986, has been charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Communicating Threats, Kidnapping, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serous Injury.
  • Carnis Ferdinand Poindexter SR., DOB: 7/10/1965, has been charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Communicating Threats, Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serous Injury, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
