CHARLOTTE, NC — Investigators are waiting on autopsy results to determine how a Mecklenburg County inmate died early Thursday morning.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Lavarchio Allen was pronounced dead shortly before 8am. He was an inmate at Jail Central.
According to jail records, Allen was arrested on March 26, 2017. He was charged with multiple crimes, including three counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, two counts of Larceny of a Firearm, Assault on a Female, False Imprisonment, five counts of felony Breaking and/or Entering, three counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, four counts of Break or Enter a Motor Vehicle, Resisting a Public Officer, seven counts of Larceny After Break/Enter, Obstructing Justice, and Disorderly Conduct.
This is the second death of an inmate at Jail Central in under a week. Late last Thursday, 34-year-old Jemarcus McIlwaine was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
Both investigations are ongoing.
