NEW YORK (AP) — It’s NBA All-Star weekend in New York City. Tonight there’s three-on-three mixed competition, the long-distance shootout and the ever-popular slam-dunk contest before tomorrow night’s actual NBA All-Star game at Madison Square Garden.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP )— Second-ranked Virginia tries to improve to 23-1 when they host Wake Forest in ACC action. The defensive-minded Cavaliers shut down N.C. State 51-47 Wednesday night.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Third-ranked Gonzaga (gahn-ZAG’-uh) rides an 18-game winning streak into tonight’s game against Pepperdine. The ‘Zags improved to 25-1 overall with a perfect 13-0 mark in the West Coast Conference by routing Loyola Marymount 80-51 Thursday night.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Brandt Snedeker (SNEH’-deh-kur) and Matt Jones start third-round play at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tied for the top spot at 12 under par. Justin Hicks is one shot back.
