Cleveland Co. Sheriff’s deputies arrest teen in deadly shooting near Lawndale

CLEVELAND CO., N.C. – Cleveland Co. Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a teenager accused in a deadly shooting near Lawndale. Investigators say 18-year-old Canyun Castillo shot and killed the victim outside a home on Boyles Road just before 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Castillo was arrested at another home about a mile away. Deputies then executed a search warrant and say they found evidence there, believed to be related to the crime.

The victim’s name has not been released.
