Local nonprofit partners with Target to set students up for back-to-school success
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 75 Charlotte students hit the aisles for a private back-to-school shopping spree. Local nonprofit Promise Youth Development partnered with Target for an after-hours event at the midtown store. Each student received a champion backpack stuffed with supplies and a $100 gift card. The event is part of a nationwide Target campaign supporting 1,700 students across 20 cities.
One parent tells us, “Honestly, it’s a bit of a relief. I mean, everything’s going up. The economy is in a bit of a turn, so every little bit counts. So programs like this, we need it.”
Promise Youth Development provides year-round mentoring, education, and health programming for children in east Charlotte.
