CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators say a local family was the victim of SWATTING in Catawba County.
Investigators say the family’s home was raided by the SWAT team after someone prank called the police department claiming a teen in the home murdered his girlfriend and was holding this parents hostage.
The caller claimed to be Sean Prince and told police he killed his girlfriend with a shotgun and had his parents tied up in the bathroom. The caller also told police that he was thinking about shooting his parents and requested a hostage negotiator immediately.
Once negotiators made contact with the family they realized something was wrong with the call.
The family was detained as police searched the home. The call ended up being a hoax. Prince stated he was a gamer and had been live-streaming on Twitch before this happened.
No arrests have been made in the case.
