Flood Watch: There is a Flood Watch in effect for Stanly County from 11 am – Saturday AM. We may see these watches extend across more counties.

Severe threat: A level 1 out of 5 (marginal risk) in place for areas north of I-85. A level 2 of 5 (slight risk) for those south of I-85.

Damaging wind gusts and hail will be our primary severe threat through Friday night.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect across the Piedmont of North Carolina until 9 pm. A few storms could produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. Most storms will produce torrential rain and frequent lightning.

Timing: 3 pm – 12 am

Flood risk: Flooding is possible through Friday night as torrential training storms move through. Some locations may see 2-3”+ which could lead to localized flooding.
