One more day of heat before major weather changes

Tracking our next cold front

Tonight, we’ll stay dry and comfortable with mostly clear skies. Temperatures will ease back into the upper 60s overnight.

Friday is the last big taste of summer before the weather pattern changes. Sunshine will be in control for most of the day, sending temperatures up to around 90 degrees. That is well above where we should be for the first week of October. Friday evening will stay warm too, so if you’re headed to a football games, you’ll have a mild evening. Temperatures will gradually slip into the upper 60s later in the evening.

Then the big shift….

Saturday starts the transition with more clouds working into the region. We’ll stay warm, but temperatures won’t climb nearly as high, with afternoon highs near 80 degrees. The bigger issue will be the increasing chance for showers and a few thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and early evening. (Just after 2pm) Outdoor plans can still happen, but clouds and rain will bring a big change.

By Saturday night, the wetter weather becomes more organized. Showers will become more numerous, and some areas could pick up a heavier burst of rain. Sunday looks noticeably different from the first half of the weekend. Clouds, cooler temperatures and periods of rain will dominate, with highs only around 70 degrees. Sunday will bring multiple rounds of rain keeping us wet through the day.  By Sunday night football the biggest batch of rain will have moved out, but winds will pick up, along with scattered showers lingering.
