2015 Steele Creek Homicide Suspect Found Guilty Of 1st Degree Murder

CHARLOTTE, NC — A jury found the suspect charged in a 2015 homicide case guilty of First-Degree Murder Thursday.

Daniel Blakney, 38, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole following the verdict. Blakney was originally charged with First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Kidnapping, First-Degree Burglary and Common Law Robbery in connection to the July 2015 death of 64-year-old David Albert Doyle, Jr.

Doyle was found dead around 3:45pm Sunday, July 18th after CMPD officers responded to a welfare call for service on Plantation Woods Drive.

Officials say charges are still pending against two co-defendants in the case.
