Survivor shares how bystander CPR saved his life

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On World Restart a Heart Day, cardiac arrest survivor Johnnie Davis is sharing how his wife’s quick action saved his life.

Davis went into cardiac arrest at home, where his wife immediately began CPR before first responders arrived and used an automated external defibrillator to restore his heartbeat.

Davis joined Rising to share his experience and encourage others to learn CPR. When performed immediately, CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.

Viewers can learn hands-only CPR and find additional resources through the American Heart Association.
