Police Charge Suspect In South Charlotte Homicide

CMPD has charged Daquan Thompson, 20, with the murder of Decario Bethea.

Thompson was already in custody on unrelated charges, according to authorities.

The investigation is ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are investigating a homicide in south Charlotte after the victim of a shooting Friday afternoon died from injuries.

The shooting happened shortly after 4pm on Fairwood Avenue off S. Tryon Street. The victim, 24-year-old Decario Bethea, was transported by Medic to CMC Main with life threatening injuries, and was pronounced dead about two hours later.

Police say Bethea got into a verbal argument with two other people outside of the Southside Apartments, which resulted in the shooting.
