YORK, SC — Three people, including the suspect were reportedly shot at a gas station in York County Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened at the On The Run gas station at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 161. York School District says three nearby schools and the district office were placed on a brief lockdown as a result of the shooting.

A witness at a nearby business tells WCCB the alleged shooter, later identified by the York County Sheriff’s Office as 25-year-old Darryl Ray Hinson, Jr., of Rock Hill, was sitting on the trunk of a car shortly after 2pm when two men in another vehicle pulled up and an argument ensued.

Hinson reportedly retrieved a camo colored shotgun from his trunk and fired roughly four shots, hitting the two men and then shooting himself in the face. The witness says one of the men appeared to be shot in the torso and the other was hit in the shoulder.

The witness says all parties appeared to be alive at the time they were transported. Emergency officials say two men were taken to Piedmont Medical Center and one was taken to a medical center in Charlotte.

We are working to get more information. A WCCB crew is on scene.
