Wilson’s World: Previewing the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at BB&T Ballpark

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  Wilson was with Katherine Lambert of the Alzheimer’s Association of Western North Carolina this morning to talk about next month’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s being held at BB&T Ballpark.  But with Hurricane Florence on the way, it was also important to talk about how to care for our loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer’s during the hurricane. Those with Dementia or Alzheimer’s should never be left alone in an emergency.

Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disease and the most common form of dementia. Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s an overall term that describes a group of symptoms.  Over 5.7 million Americans  suffer from Alzheimer’s and it is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States with 1 in 3 seniors dying from Alzeheimer’s or some other form of dementia.

The 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held on Saturday, October 13th at BB&T Ballpark.  Registration is still open and will be open online and day of the event as well.  Grab some friends and walk as a team! Volunteers and donations are needed as well.  Find out more about the event HERE.

Tommy Viola with the Charlotte Knights as well as Knights’ mascot Homer joined Wilson to chat about some of the year round events that are happening at BB&T Ballpark.
