One Arrested, Another Wanted After 80-Year-Old Woman’s Purse Is Stolen
CHARLOTTE, NC — One of the suspects wanted by CMPD after an 80-year-old woman’s purse was snatched Monday afternoon has been arrested.
The crime reportedly happened around 12:13pm in a parking lot on Randolph Road. Police say the victim was leaving physical therapy when a black male suspect, later identified as Jamie Harris, 35, tried to snatch her purse as she was getting in her vehicle.
The victim struggled with Harris before falling to the ground and hitting her face. Police say several good Samaritans came to her aid, and she was transported to CMC with minor injuries.
A short time late, investigators were alerted to the victim’s credit card being used at a Burlington Coat Factory on South Boulevard.
Surveillance pictures show two suspects associated with this crime. Police say Harris is the suspect with long dreadlocks, wearing a black shirt and black pants. The black male wearing a white shirt and blue jeans is accused of using the stolen credit card, and is still wanted by CMPD.
Harris is still be interviewed by detectives, police say, so charges have not yet been officially released.
Anyone with information on this case or either of the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
