UPDATE: Cherryville Police have identified the two men involved in an early morning murder-suicide.
Cherryville PD responded to a shooting call at 112 Bates Avenue around 12:30 this morning. When they arrived they found Andy Heartman, 40, dead from a gunshot wound. The suspect had left the scene, but was identified by witnesses as Yates Mauney III, 40.
Police say Mauney’s body was found shortly after outside of Cherryville, and that his death appeared to be the result of suicide.
The investigation is ongoing, and no motive has been established at this time.
GASTON COUNTY, NC — Cherryville Police are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred early this morning.
We are told a person was shot around midnight on Bates Avenue, and then the shooter took his own life at a separate scene.
