SALISBURY, NC — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says a child was stuck with a needle Wednesday night after biting into a small Snickers bar he got while trick-or-treating.
The 12-year-old victim reportedly went trick-or-treating in the Grace Ridge subdivision on Grace Church Road between 6pm and 7:30pm. Around 8:30pm, officials say the child’s parents reported their son had been stuck by a needle found inside one of the mini Snickers.
The child was treated for the minor injury.
On Thursday, deputies say another victim reported finding metal pieces inside their children’s candy. The parent said they inspected the candy after seeing reports of the previous incident posted on Facebook.
The second victim also went trick-or-treating in the Grace Ridge subdivision, according to reports, and also found the two metal pieces inside a mini Snickers bar.
Deputies say they do not yet know which house was giving out the tainted candy. Officials are advising parents to check their children’s treats before letting them eat.
