Original Story (Nov. 19, 2018):

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are still trying to identify the man they say carjacked a woman overnight Friday and tried to sexually assault her.

The incident happened around 2am on Woodlawn Road. Authorities say the victim was using an ATM at the Park Road Shopping Center when the suspect forced his way into her vehicle with a gun, forced her to drive to another location and tried to sexually assault her.

The victim was able to escape. Her vehicle was found abandoned a short time later.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, and last seen wearing a two tone jacket, jeans, black and white shoes, a black hat and a gray mask covering the lower half of his face.

Investigators now say the same suspect may have been responsible for another crime that took place nearby. Prior to the ATM incident, police say a suspect matching the same description reportedly stole an UBER drivers keys and cell phone in Montford.

Anyone with information on this suspect or crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
