HICKORY, N.C. — Deputies say they arrested a Hickory man after he showed up at a prearranged location thinking he was meeting a minor to have sex.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says they were dispatched to a residence regarding online solicitation of a minor on November 23rd.
The parents of the victim told deputies the suspect had been sending sexually explicit and sexually suggestive messages over social media.
The suspect is also accused of requesting sexually seductive images from the minor and wanting to meet the minor in person for the purpose of sexual activity.
Investigators say they determined the suspect was Michael Chicelli from Catawba County. The suspect allegedly continued to make contact with whom he believed was the underaged minor and set up a location to meet for sex, according to a news release.
A team of investigators were waiting for Chicelli and took him into custody once he arrived at the location.
He has been charged with solicit child by computer/appear in person. He was issued a $24,000 secured bond.
