Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced water-testing results for two of the counties high schools.
Olympic and Myers Park are the last two schools to be completed in the district’s second round of water testing. Results are still pending for the district’s central-administration buildings.
The first round of testing was conducted at 58 schools last year. The second round, which began this year, is being done at 35 schools and administrative buildings in all.
CMS partnered with environmental consulting firm AECOM to have the water-consumption points tested.
At Olympic, 79 water-consumption points were tested and no issues were found.
At Myers Park, 95 water-consumption points were tested and issues were found with four of them.
A kitchen sink and water fountain had levels above the state standards for lead. It was also discovered that two water fountains had levels above the state standards for copper.
All four fixtures have been taken out of service.
