FORT MILL, SC — Authorities say two suspects have been charged in connection to a hit and run and carjacking that occurred on December 6th.
Jonathan Conner, 39, of Lancaster, was taken into custody on December 11th by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office after search warrants were executed at a home on Taylor Drive in Lancaster.
Conner has been transferred into Fort Mill Police custody and charged with Breach of Trust (more than $2,000 but less than $10,000), Hit and Run Involving Great Bodily Injury and Criminal Conspiracy.
Matthew Vanburen, 31, of Orangeburg, was previously arrested on unrelated charges by the LCSO, and currently has a pending warrant from Fort Mill PD charging him with Criminal Conspiracy in connection to the December 6th incident.
According to Fort Mill Police, the victim, Shawn Antonik, was meeting one of the suspects in the area of Tom Hall Street and Dobys Bridge Road on December 6th to possibly sell his 2005 Acura TL. During the meeting, police say the suspect forcefully took the keys away from Antonik and stole the vehicle.
While trying to leave, the suspect reportedly hit Antonik and kept going. Investigators say a grey Dodge Grand Caravan also left the same parking lot immediately after the crime occurred.
Conner and Vanburen were later identified as the suspects in this case. The victim’s Acura was also recovered on December 10th at the Lancaster Convalescent Center, police say, where Vanburen said it was dropped off.
