Police Investigating Deadly Accident In Newton

NEWTON, N.C. — Police are investigating a deadly accident in Newton.  Investigators say the accident happened on December 19th just after 1:30pm on Southwest Boulevard at Meadowbrook Drive.

The accident involved a tractor-trailer and a Ford Mustang.  An initial investigation revealed the tractor-trailer was traveling south on Southwest Boulevard when it was struck by the Mustang which was traveling north, according to a news release.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford Mustang, 36-year-old Rocky Hilton of Maiden, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, according to a news release.  Police say at this time it appears the Mustang crossed the center line striking the tractor-trailer.  No other details were provided.
