Reminder: CMS Make-Up Day For 22 Schools Scheduled For Tuesday, Jan. 22

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will have a make-up day on Tuesday, January 22nd for 22 schools previously impacted by winter weather.

The make-up day, announced in early December, is ONLY scheduled for the schools that were closed on December 11, 2018. Those schools include:

  • Barnette ES
  • Blythe ES
  • Bradley MS
  • Cornelius ES
  • Croft ES
  • David Cox ES
  • Davidson ES
  • Early Colleges at UNCC: Engineering and Teaching
  • Grand Oak ES
  • Hawthorne Academy
  • Highland Creek ES
  • Hopewell HS
  • Hornets Nest ES
  • Hough HS
  • Huntersville ES
  • Independence HS
  • J.M. Alexander MS
  • J.V. Washam ES
  • Lebanon Road ES
  • Long Creek ES
  • Mallard Creek ES
  • Mallard Creek HS
  • Metro School
  • Northeast MS
  • North Mecklenburg HS
  • Northwest School of the Arts
  • Parkside ES
  • Performance Learning Center
  • Phillip O. Berry
  • Piedmont Middle School IB

February 18, 2019 will serve as a make-up day for all CMS schools, students and staff for the closure on October 10, 2018, due to impacts of Hurricane Michael.

March 29, 2019 will serve as a make-up day for all CMS schools, students and staff for the closure on October 11, 2018, also due to impacts of Hurricane Michael.

CMS schools were also closed for three days in September due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence. On September 19th however, the school district announced those days would be waived under the district’s policy which gives Superintendent Wilcox the authority to β€œwaive up to four instructional days each year in the event schools are closed to students because of severe weather or other emergency conditions.”
