York Co. Murder Suspect Had Recent Arrest on Domestic Violence Charges
YORK COUNTY, S.C. – A four-and-a-half hour manhunt for a murder suspect ended after a short chase and crash in South Charlotte on Tuesday.
Marques Heath is accused of shooting three women in York County, killing one of them.
Heath crashed an Oldsmobile Cutlass near the light rail tracks at South Boulevard and Old Pineville Road around 3:30 p.m.
Investigators say two of the women were shot at a home on Leach Road just before 11:00 a.m.
One of them died there, and paramedics brought the other one to the hospital.
Then 15 minutes away on Farlow Street, Heath is accused of shooting the third woman, who was also taken to the hospital.
Heath has a lengthy criminal history. An incident report from January 18th paints an especially disturbing picture.
A pregnant woman who said she lived in the Leach Road home with Heath, accused him of domestic violence.
The report states, “Knowing that the victim is pregnant the defendant continued to physically assault her while she was on the ground telling her that he was going to kill her…”
The victim told investigators she went to a shelter but came back because Heath threatened her family.
The incident report says she “…stated repeatedly that she is in fear for her life and that she knows that he will kill her if he can because she went to the police.”
It appears Heath still got out of jail, despite making the threats. He’s now waiting to be extradited back to York County.
