NEWTON, NC — A juvenile was arrested Monday afternoon in connection to an armed robbery at a Circle K convenience store.
The crime happened around 1:19pm at the store on West NC 10 Highway. Police say the clerk reported a black man entering the store with his face covered, pointing a gun and demanding money.
The suspect then reportedly took off in a white Dodge Journey parked nearby.
A witness to the crime was able to get the vehicle’s license plate number, officials say, which was traced to a home outside of the Newton city limits.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office assisted Newton Police in locating the vehicle and suspect. He was taken into custody following a positive identification by Newton investigators.
The suspect is a juvenile, police say, and his name is not being released due to age.
