York County Cancels Boil Water Advisory For Lake Wylie Area

The Boil Water Advisory for York County Water and Sewer customers North of Concord Road on Hwy 274 in Lake Wylie has been rescinded. The bacteriological samples that were collected and tested, identified no presence of bacteria in the water system. Update (May 9, 2019 at 6:30pm):

York County Water & Sewer has repaired the waterline on Hwy 274 in the Lake Wylie area. However, the Boil Water Advisory is still in effect for the area. Customers may experience discolored or “cloudy” water, and are advised to vigorously boil your water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking with it. The water is completely safe for any other non-consumable usage.

Bacteriological samples have been collected in order to determine if there is a presence of bacteria in the water system. York County will have results of the testing on Friday, May 10, and will notify the public. Customers should continue to boil the water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until notification by York County Water/Sewer or SCDHEC.

Update (May 9, 2019 at 12pm):

Beginning at noon on Thursday, May 09, York County water crews will cut off valves that will cause a loss of water service in the Lake Wylie area. Water service may be affected for several hours.

York County Water & Sewer customers who are  north of Concord Road on SC 274 will experience an interruption in water service and may experience discolored or “cloudy” water. You are advised to vigorously boil your water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking with it. The water is completely safe for any other non-consumable usage.

Original Story (May 8, 2019):

York County, SC –York County crews have identified the water main break issue that has affected both York County Water & Sewer and Blue Granite Water Company (Blue Granite) customers in the Lake Wylie area. Therefore, York County anticipates an interruption to water service (tomorrow) Thursday, May 9, 9am-4pm.

York County Water & Sewer customers North of Concord Road will likely be affected. Blue Granite customers in the Lake Wylie area will be affected.

Blue Granite and York County are encouraging customers to conserve water until the line is repaired. Please anticipate this outage taking longer than initially determined. Customers may want to purchase bottled water for cooking and consumption until service is restored.

Crews have secured the area on Hwy 274, and will be on the scene tomorrow to make the final repairs to the water main line. Motorists are encouraged to be cautious and expect delays. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes, if possible.

Customers will receive notification if a boil water advisory is necessary through the Blue Granite Water Company’s My Utility Connect notification system and through York County’s notification system. Once repairs are completed and the system has returned to normal working conditions, a second notification will be sent to all customers to rescind the boil water advisory.
