Lancaster County Drug Task Force Makes Two Arrests On Multiple Charges

LANCASTER, SC — Agents with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force arrested two suspects on May 24th, which resulted in multiple drug related charges.

Agents were attempting to serve outstanding warrants on Justin Smith, 28, at a home on Zion Road when the arrests were made.

Smith and a second suspect, Romaine Simon, 29, of Kershaw tried to run from agents as they pulled into the driveway, officials say, but both were quickly detained.

At the time of Smith’s arrest, authorities say he was in possession of 1.1 grams of Heroin, 9.7 grams of Methamphetamine, .6 grams of Cocaine, a small amount of Marijuana and a Marijuana blunt. Deputies say a loaded Taurus 9 mm pistol was also found on the wooded path Smith tried to use for an escape.

Simon was also reportedly found to be in possession of .7 grams of Methamphetamine and a pipe used for smoking drugs.

The LCSO says agents obtained search warrants for the property and found two additional loaded Taurus 9mm pistols, a .40 caliber and a .380 caliber, in Smith’s vehicle. Three sets of digital scales, another Marijuana blunt and smoking pipe, as well as $427 cash were also found during the search, according to deputies.

Smith is charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He was released on a $20,000 bond on May 29th.

Simon is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He was released on a $7,500 bond on May 31st.

Officials say the original outstanding warrants for Smith included Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren, and were connected to two separate incidents that occurred in October 2018 and April 2019.
