Wilson’s World: Hanging with the Kids and Counselors at Camp Cadet

TEGA CAY, S.C. —  Tega Cay Police Department’s Camp Cadet finishes up their fourth year today so Wilson wanted to stop in to find out what the campers have been doing this week.  The free camp provides a way for 40 area kids to interact and bond with first responders in the community. Wilson was joined by Sgt. Rob Burns with the Tega Cay Police Department to talk about the camp and its purpose in the community.

Fifth, sixth and seventh graders of all different backgrounds learn everything about first responders from the fire department, police department and bomb squad during Camp Cadet week. Who wouldn’t want to learn about the bomb squad’s cool robot?  The camp also includes water activities, amusement park visits, and much more.

The 5th annual Camp Cadet will be held June 2020. The camp will be limited in total participants. Campers will be required to have a letter of recommendation from a sponsor. This camp will be free in cost as it will be funded entirely on donation. To be a supporter, please click here.

If you’d like to support the Tega Cay Police Department Summer Camp Cadet program, attend their 5th annual Camp Cadet Golf Tournament that takes place Friday, September 13th at the Tega Cay Golf Club, 15083 Molokai Drive. Proceeds benefit Camp Cadet.  Get more information on the golf tournament HERE.
