Red Cross Issues Urgent Call for Most Needed Blood Types

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The American Red Cross is facing an impending shortage of the most needed blood types. They have issued an urgent call for donors with O negative, B negative, and A negative blood to donate now to ensure patients can receive the care they need.

Overall blood donations in the Red Cross Carolinas Blood Services Region have been 4,553 fewer per month in June and July than the previous 10 months of the year. Blood donation appointments can be scheduled by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wake Forest University Charlotte Center, 200 N. College St.
Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. 4th St.
Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Piedmont Natural Gas, 4720 Piedmont Row Drive
