CHARLOTTE, NC — Beginning Tuesday, September 24th, the westbound lanes of East Independence Boulevard will be closed nightly from 10pm – 5am for construction on the Hawthorne Bridge.
The closures will last through Tuesday, October 1st.
Officials sent the following information regarding the closure schedule:
Westbound East Independence Blvd between Eastway Drive and Hawthorne Lane will close nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 and will re-open on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
Motorists should utilize Eastway Drive, Central Avenue, North Kings Drive and East 4th Street for I-277.
For Charlottetowne Avenue, motorist should detour using Eastway Drive, Central Avenue, and East 7th Street.
This closure is necessary for the Hawthorne bridge girder removal and installation over Independence Boulevard as part of CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction.
This road will be closed to all through traffic.
CATS will be affected.
