CHARLOTTE, NC — A 31-year-old man from Guatemala has been sentenced to roughly eight years in prison on child pornography charges. Officials say he was also living in the United States illegally.
Robson Gustavo Morales Santos was sentenced to 96 months in prison, a lifetime of supervised release, and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Authorities started investigating Santos after receiving a cybertip that he was uploading child pornography to a cloud application. After seizing Santos’ cell phone, investigators say forensic analysis showed more than 600 videos on the device depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Some of the victims were prepubescent minors, officials say, and as young as infants.
Santos pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography in April 2019, and was sentenced on Monday.
