CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hospitals in Charlotte say they are prepared in case someone with symptoms of Ebola needs treatment.
Carolinas Medical Center says they have screening protocols in place for high-risk patients at all access points (emergency rooms, urgent cares, clinics and physician offices) that would identify and isolate suspected cases quickly.
All clinical staff have reviewed the signs and symptoms of Ebola. They have also been trained on the proper use and correct disposal of personal protective equipment in case they are in contact with an infected person.
Novant Health says they are creating awareness of the potential threat Ebola presents and have reminded staff on ways to care for individuals with Ebola symptoms.
An Ebola response guide has been created for staff members. The hospital also says they have Ebola isolation packs in their emergency departments for staff to quickly use if there is a patient with Ebola symptoms.
Both hospitals are closely monitoring the outbreak and continuing to keep their clinics and hospitals prepared to any challenges that might develop.
