The boil water notice has been lifted at this time.  CMD says all water customers may begin normal water use for drinking, cooking, and other uses.  Customers may continue to experience intermittent periods of slightly discolored water and are encouraged to contact Chester Metropolitan District at 803-385-5123 if this condition occurs.

Customers are also encouraged to flush all faucets before resuming regular water use and discard any ice made prior to 8am on November 18th.

Original Story (Posted November 13, 2019):

CHESTER, S.C. — A Boil Water Advisory has been extended for Chester County, as crews continue work to repair  a broken water main in the Fort Lawn area.

Officials say Chester Metropolitan District crews are preparing for the delivery of a custom-made repair clamp.  The repair work is scheduled to begin at 3 pm. and continue until 6:30 p.m., at which time the water filtration system is expected to return to full service.

Water service is expected to be interrupted for residences and businesses between the water filtration plant U.S Highway 21.  Officials do not anticipate a loss of service for any other parts of the service area.

Chester Metropolitan District customers are asked to conserve water to the best of their ability while the water filtration plant is offline.

Testing for bacteria will take place after the repairs are made and the Boil Water Notice will continue until the water passes those tests.  For the next few days, customers may still see discolored water resulting from the repairs.

Any severely discolored water should be reported to the Chester Metropolitan District office at 803-385-5123.
