The Salvation Army Hosts Christmas Concert At SouthPark Mall To Launch Christmas Season Of Giving
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte has officially launched its Angel Tree and Red Kettle programs and held a ceremonial concert to bring both campaigns officially to SouthPark Mall.
On Saturday, Nov. 23 guests enjoyed “sounds of the season” with The Salvation Army of the Carolinas Divisional Youth Band, as they shared a special Christmas concert to kick off the Salvation Army campaigns at SouthPark.
“Music has always been an important part of The Salvation Army, dating back to the organization’s origins,” said Major Larry Broome, Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. “This special concert is a great opportunity to get in the Christmas spirit, by listening to wonderful holiday music and preparing your hearts for this important season of giving back.”
Jon Wilson, a longtime Salvation Army supporter and correspondent on WCCB News Rising, made a special appearance at the event. The WCCB street team also interacted with guests.
November 23 marked the beginning of both campaigns at SouthPark. Paper Angel Tree tags are now available at the Salvation Army desk near the Food Court. Guests are encouraged to adopt an Angel and return it on Dec. 5-6, when Wilson will camp out in the parking lot at SouthPark, outside the Cheesecake Factory, to receive returned Angel Tree gifts and toys.
WCCB is a longtime partner with the Angel Tree program, along with its corporate sponsors like Subway®, Acosta Heating & Cooling and Academy Sports + Outdoors. They help to bring awareness to the effort throughout the community.
