Two People Arrested Following Homicide At East Charlotte Shopping Center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An employee of an arcade called La Casa was killed early Tuesday morning at a business complex in east Charlotte.

Police say they were called to the arcade on East W T Harris Boulevard near North Sharon Amity Road just before 6am in reference to a shooting.  When officers arrived on the scene they located an employee, who has been identified as 51-year-old Askia Toure Abdullah Alkebulan, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Alkebulan was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  This is the 99th homicide of the year in Charlotte.

Police say they arrested 36-year-old Gregory Moffitt and 38-year-old Noelle Blount in the case.  They were interviewed by Homicide Unit detectives and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. Moffit has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by felon. Blount has been charged with murder.
