CHARLOTTE, NC — Police say they have charged one suspect responsible for a break-in that left another shot Wednesday afternoon.
Reports say around 3:30 p.m police responded to a breaking and entering call on Merryvale Lane.
Upon arrival, police say the victim informed them that he came home to find two suspects in his residence.
During a confrontation, the victim says he fired shots at the suspects who fled the scene and were later located after a vehicle accident on Sam Wilson Road.
Police say the driver was found suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound and determined he was the suspect responsible for the break-in and was struck by a bullet while fleeing the home.
The second suspect was located a short time later after police say they received a tip from a community member.
Kendrick Brinkley, 26, was arrested and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Conspiracy to Commit Breaking and Entering.
Authorities say the man who was shot during the break-in is still being treated at CMC Main.
