MIAMI (AP) β LeBron James poured in 26 points and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade added 23 as the Miami Heat beat the Indiana Pacers 99-87 to take a 2-1 lead in the NBA’s Eastern Conference finals. Miami trailed 42-38 before scoring 33 points on 11 of 15 shooting in the third quarter to go ahead to stay. Ray Allen finished with 16 points and hit three 3-pointers in the final six minutes to help the Heat stay in control.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β Jeff Carter had a goal and two assists as the Kings downed Chicago 4-3 in Los Angeles to take a 2-1 lead in the NHL’s Western Conference semifinals. Carter’s second-period tally knotted the score 2-2 before Tyler Toffoli (tah-FOH’-lee) put L.A. ahead just over six minutes later. Quick finished with 24 saves in helping the Kings win for the 10th time in their last 14 games.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) β Hideki Matsuyama (hih-DEH’-kee maht-soo-YAH’-mah) shot a bogey-free 64 to pull into a four-way tie for the lead at 7-under through three rounds at the Colonial. David Toms, Chad Campbell and Chris Stroud also own a piece of the lead, and Kevin Chappell fired the day’s best round, a 63 that leaves him one shot back. Top-ranked Adam Scott and Jimmy Walker are part of the six-way tie for second.
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) β Colin (KAH’-lihn) Montgomerie has the lead after three rounds of the Senior PGA Championship, carding a 3-under 68 on Saturday for a 7-under total. Bernhard Langer is second, one shot off the pace and one ahead of Marco Dawson and Bart Bryant. Tom Watson will start the final round four shots off the pace after a 1-over 72.
BALTIMORE (AP) β It will be top seed Duke taking on No. 6 Notre Dame in Monday’s NCAA men’s lacrosse title game. The Blue Devils outscored Denver 15-12 as Kyle Keenan scored four times in place of All-American attackman Josh Dionne, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in last Sunday’s quarterfinals. Matt Kavanagh scored five goals and assisted on two others as the Irish knocked out Maryland 11-6.
