MIAMI (AP) β The Miami Heat are within one victory of their fourth straight trip to the NBA Finals after taking Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals, whipping Indiana 102-90. LeBron James finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds, Chris Bosh scored 25 points on 7 of 12 shooting and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade added 15 points Miami’s third straight win. The Heat led wire-to-wire, opening up as much as a 23-point lead in the final quarter.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β The Los Angeles Kings have a three-games-to-one lead in the Western Conference finals after building a 4-0 lead in a 5-2 win over the Blackhawks. Jake Muzzin (MUZ’-ihn), Marian Gaborik (GAB’-uh-rihk) and Dustin Brown scored during a seven-minute span of the first period before Drew Doughty gave the Kings a four-goal cushion in the second. Doughty and Muzzin each finished with a goal and an assist for the Kings, who can wrap up the series Wednesday in Chicago.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β Hyun-Jin Ryu (HYOON’-jihn ryoo) came within six outs of becoming the second consecutive Dodgers pitcher to throw a no-hitter. Ryu had a perfect game against Cincinnati until Todd Frazier led off the eighth with a double, one day after Josh Beckett threw the Dodgers’ first no-hitter in 18 years. Ryu also drove in a run and scored a run as Los Angeles beat the Reds 4-3.
BALTIMORE (AP) β Duke has won its second straight NCAA men’s lacrosse championship by defeating Notre Dame 11-9 in Baltimore. The top-seeded Blue Devils limited the Irish to one goal over the first 35 minutes, built a six-goal lead in the third quarter and held on to capture their third national championship in the last five years. Jordan Wolf scored twice and had four assists for Duke, including a game-clinching goal with 23.6 seconds left.
PARIS (AP) β Third-seed and reigning Australian Open champ Stan Wawrinka (vah-VINK’-ah) was knocked out in the first round of the French Open, falling to Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0. Top seed Rafael Nadal (nah-DAHL’) and No. 2 Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) earned straight-sets victories to reach Round 2, as did women’s seventh seed Maria Sharapova.
