Chris Bosh had 25 points and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade added 15 for the Heat, who are on the verge of their fourth straight trip to the finals. Paul George scored 23 points for the Pacers.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β Jake Muzzin (MUZ’-ihn) and Dustin Brown scored on power plays while the Los Angeles Kings were building a 3-0 lead in the first period of a 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Marian Gaborik and Drew Doughty also tallied to help the Kings grab a 4-0 lead in the second period and a three-games-to-one lead in the NHL’s Western Conference finals. Muzzin and Doughty each finished with a goal and an assist, while Anze Kopitar (AHN’-zhay KOH’-pih-tahr) and Justin Williams collected two assists apiece.
ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) β The Washington Capitals have promoted Brian MacLellan to senior vice president and general manager while hiring former Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz. MacLellan replaces George McPhee, whose contract was not renewed after 17 seasons with the Capitals. Trotz was the Predators’ coach for their first 15 seasons before being dropped from the job in April.
TORONTO (AP) β The Toronto Blue Jays remain baseball’s hottest team following a 10-5 rout of Tampa Bay. Melky Cabrera was 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs in Toronto’s seventh straight win. Dioner (dee-AH’-nur) Navarro and Steve Tolleson hit back-to-back homers in the fourth, two innings before Edwin Encarnacion (ehn-kahr-nah-see-OHN’) smacked his 15th homer of the season.
PARIS (AP) β No. 5 David Ferrer and No. 7 Andy Murray are the top men’s seeds in action at the French Open today. The women’s schedule is highlighted by matches featuring second seed Li Na (lee nah), fourth seed Simona Halep (HAH’-lehp) and No. 15 Sloane Stephens.
