CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Better to be safe than sorry. That’s the approach the Panthers are taking when it comes to playing football during a pandemic.
The team has placed a second player on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Offensive lineman Chris Reed joins defensive back Derrek Thomas, who was added to the list on Sunday.
As a precaution, the Panthers delayed Tuesday’s practice for more than three hours in order to do another round of COVID-19 testing. The additional rapid result, point-of-care testing is able to provide results in approximately 20 minutes, according to Panthers head coach Matt Rhule.
The Panthers season opener is less than two weeks away, they’re set to host the Raiders on September 13th at Bank of America Stadium. Fans will not be allowed to attend.
