CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested Bamberg County Council Chairman Kerry Kinard for multiple sex crimes.
Kinard, 49, is charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, attempted criminal sexual contact with a minor, two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, first degree assault and battery, and two counts of distributing obscene material, according to a news release.
Agents say Kinard is being held at the Bamberg County Detention Center, and his case will be prosecuted by the Second Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
SLED says they are investigating the case at the request of the Bamberg Police Department.
